(detail). Anthotype by Trudi Lynn Smith. Stinging nettle and a photograph from the Associated Press Archive. From the Mapping Meaning Journal 3, 2019.

The new issue of Mapping Meaning Journal has dropped! I’m delighted to have guest co-edited the volume with Nat Castañeda and Karina Aguilera Skvirsky. We first met as part of the Mapping Meaning initiative and then the three of us met again in NYC to work together in the Associated Press Archives, an event and conversation that initiated our focus for editing the journal. As we found out in conversation with one another and in the diverse and excellent submissions we received, the various entanglements between archives and photography remain worth considering.
